It takes a truly supportive environment to make events like this a success, and that includes everyone from teachers and counselors to staff and administrators. 🙏 Below: Me, Double Duty.😊
🙀 Ever tried herding cats? That's what running a high school is like. Luckily, we have two expert cat-herders at the helm: Principal Stroud and Assistant Principal Sykes. They're the ones who keep the ship afloat, the trains running on time, and ensure that even the most ambitious student projects don't derail. Their support for student initiatives is truly remarkable, and it's what makes Langley such a special place. This support extends far beyond just these two, of course. My teachers, my counselor, and countless Langley staff members have all played a crucial role in fostering my growth and development. But Principal Stroud and Assistant Principal Sykes set the tone, creating an environment where new ideas are welcomed and students are empowered.
Take, for example, this Quiz Bowl and World Affairs Club recruitment in January 2025. Principal Stroud and Assistant Principal Sykes were right there alongside me, demonstrating their commitment to these enriching activities. Their hands-on support, especially for my unconventional ideas (like having my two clubs, Quiz Bowl and World Affairs, attend Langley's 2025 Open House for Middle School Families to welcome prospective students—a first!), has allowed us to connect with an incredible range of leaders.
From the Finnish Ambassador and a CIA station chief to representatives from the United Nations, a US Diplomat, and even a Jeopardy! champion, Principal Stroud and Assistant Principal Sykes help make these unique opportunities a reality. It’s this kind of comprehensive support, from the top down, that truly makes Langley a place where students can thrive—even when things get a little… unpredictable. Just like herding cats, sometimes. 🐈
